FAQS

General Questions

What is DPC?

DPC, or Direct Primary Care, is a healthcare model where patients pay a flat monthly fee for enhanced access to their doctor—without the complexities of insurance. At Enjoy Health DPC, while we are a primary care office, we specify that it is a Direct Physician Care (DPC) office, emphasizing the physician-led, personalized healthcare experience. With DPC, you get prompt visits for urgent concerns, virtual care if needed, and discounted services. This healthcare model started in the early 2000s and has expanded to almost 2,500 practices nationwide, offering a simpler, more patient-focused approach to healthcare.

What types of services do you offer?

Enjoy Health DPC will offer care for newborns through geriatrics including: chronic disease management (e.g. diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, cholesterol, etc), acute illness/injury visits, preventive care/wellness visits, well child visits, sports physicals, skin procedures, sutures, ear wax removal and more. If you have a specific question about a service we offer, please ask.

Is this the same as a concierge practice?

No. DPC is a flat monthly fee for essentially unlimited care with no insurance billing. Concierge care has higher fees and still bills insurance for visits. DPC tends to focus on affordability and accessibility whereas concierge care tends to be more expensive and exclusive.

Tell me more about the enhanced access to my physician.

Our patients will be able to communicate with us in a way that they are most comfortable. We will offer portal message, text, call, and video chat with us if needed during business hours. Dr. Wolters will be available for urgent matters after business hours as well.

What if I need to be seen urgently?

If we are open, we will usually be able to get you in same-day or next-day if needed. Keep in mind, though, that most concerns, we can discuss with you before you come in and you may not even need to come into the office.

What happens if I need emergency or hospital care?

We recommend you proceed to the closest Emergency Room for care. DPC does not replace emergency treatment.

How do specialists work if I’m a DPC patient?

You can still see your same specialists. In fact, care coordination with specialists can be easier in a DPC practice since we are not spending our time worried about insurance, etc. We can send any referrals that you will need.

What if Dr. Wolters goes on vacation?

If Dr. Wolters happens to be out of the office spending time with her family, it will be communicated in advance. We will have a nurse at the office to answer phones and messages, and Dr. Wolters should be able to handle most urgent issues remotely. If Dr. Wolters would be traveling and she is unavailable, there will be appropriate coverage available to address urgent concerns.

Does my DPC membership include when I'm on vacation?

Yes! Your DPC membership covers you even when you’re on vacation. Sickness doesn’t take a break when you travel, and neither do we! We can provide telemedicine visits, help coordinate care, and even call in most prescriptions when needed—so you’re covered wherever you go.

Do you contract with employers?

We cannot contract directly with employers at this time but please reach out and we would be happy to discuss how we can work together in the future to help support the health of your employees and your company! Many times we can start laying the foundation years in advance.

Why limit the practice to 500-600 patients?

Keeping the practice smaller ensures that we are able to provide the personalized and accessible care for our members.

What happens after the practice reaches the 500-600 patient limit?

We will start a waiting list and invite people to join as space opens up.

Can I come see the office and meet you before I sign up?

Absolutely! We want you to be 100% confident in your choice of family physician. We will have meet and greet sessions/open houses in May 2025 after we open. We will continue those periodically until the practice is full. We can text you a link to register if you are interested.

I love it! How do I sign up to be a patient?

We would love to have you join our DPC family! As of now, you can submit your contact information here on our website (see Contact page) to continue to get updates. Also, you can pre-enroll in the practice via the button at the top of the page. We are hoping to be open by May 2025 but are at the mercy of contractors after a water leak at the office.

Insurance/Billing

Do you accept my insurance?

The beauty of DPC is that we can see everyone regardless of their insurance. We do not submit claims to insurance. You can continue to use your insurance for labs, imaging, medications, specialists, etc.

Can I submit my membership fees to insurance?

We are not going to be creating "super bills" for patients with all the codes, etc that insurance needs for reimbursement. Dr. Wolters is simplifying the billing so she can spend time taking care of and advocating for her patients.

Do I still need insurance?

Yes! DPC does not replace any health insurance that you may have. It is recommended to have some form of insurance for catastrophic events - emergencies, hospitalizations, etc.

Can I use my HSA or FSA/HRA money?

Great question.

FSA/HRA: usually. depends on your employer - check with your plan or HR/benefits specialist to be sure.

HSA: Unfortunately, it's a complicated answer. We prefer to explain it over the phone for better clarity. Please call us or come to an open house/meet and greet session for more information.

What if I have Medicaid?

At this time, Ohio does not have a waiver program for Medicaid so it would be the same monthly membership fee as everyone else. There are some states that are seeing the benefit of DPC and starting a waiver program for patients with Medicaid to use at a DPC office.

What if I have Medicare?

Dr. Wolters is "opting out" of Medicare which means she will not be submitting any bills to Medicare. Since she is "opted out", Medicare patients are able to join Enjoy Health DPC! You simply need to sign a waiver saying you will not seek reimbursement for your DPC services from Medicare. You can continue to use Medicare for all other services like usual.

What are your membership fees?

Please see our "Pricing" page for details.

What is considered a "household" for membership?

Household for our office is defined as parents and dependent children living at the same address. College or graduate school students still count toward the household as long as they are a student.

What if we have more than 4 household members?

We don't want to burden those that have been blessed with a large family. You pay the rate for the 4+ members and everyone is included.

Are there any hidden costs?

There are no co-pays, fees for visits, etc. We do not charge an enrollment fee. The only other cost would be for wholesale medications through our office or cash-based labs drawn at our office. Those prices will be clearly communicated before you choose to use those services. TRANSPARENCY is important to us!

What if I need to cancel my membership?

We hope you will see the value in your membership, though you may cancel at any time. Refunds will be given for any unused time. Re-enrollment will be at the office discretion and will incur a re-enrollment fee.

More About Services

Tell me more about cash labs.

We will be able to draw labs at our office and have options for cash labs at local hospitals/labs so we can get the cheapest lab tests for our patients. The only way to access the discount lab prices is to be a member.

What do you mean by wholesale medications?

We are able to order bulk medication at wholesale prices. We will then be able to dispense that from our office and pass on those savings to the patients. The only way to access the discount medication prices is to be a member.

Are any procedures included in membership?

Yes, Dr. Wolters can perform many skin procedures, ear wax removal, some joint injections, etc. If you are inquiring about a specific office procedure, please reach out. Additional cost will only occur if medications are needed or lab fees are added.

Do you do medical marijuana cards?

Dr. Wolters is not certified with the State Medical Board of Ohio to recommend medical marijuana.

Do you practice functional medicine?

While Dr. Wolters is not certified in functional medicine, her approach to care has many similarities. She strongly believes in identifying and addressing the root cause of chronic disease while also emphasizing the importance of lifestyle factors such as diet, exercise, sleep, and stress management in maintaining health. Please note, she does not have training regarding supplements and so will not be able to guide you in those choices.

Do you offer mental health services?

Dr. Wolters is trained in prescribing many prescription medications for anxiety and depression. For patients with complex conditions, a psychiatrist may be recommended. A licensed therapist/counselor is encouraged as well.

Do you prescribe narcotics, benzodiazepines, etc?

Dr. Wolters does not prescribe long-term narcotics or benzodiazepines. We do not dispense any controlled medications from our office.

Do you offer women's health services?

Dr. Wolters performs pelvic exams when needed and Pap smears. She does not do IUDs/nexplanon/etc.

Do you prescribe post-menopausal hormones?

At this time, Dr. Wolters is not prescribing post-menopausal hormones.

Do you prescribe contraceptives?

Dr. Wolters does not prescribe contraceptives. You will need to see another physician for that service. She does offer NaPro as an added benefit to her patients.

What is NaPro?

NaPro (Natural Procreative Technology) is a women’s health approach that works with the body’s natural fertility cycles to diagnose and treat reproductive and hormonal issues. It’s used for fertility care, cycle irregularities, and other gynecological concerns, offering a natural, science-based alternative to conventional treatments.

Do you have a NaPro only membership?

We do not differentiate a NaPro membership from a DPC membership. Sometimes in treating NaPro related issues, it falls under the realm of primary care so we feel that one membership will cover it all.

Registration/Enrollment Process

As I go through the pre-enrollment form, what if I don't know all the answers?

Fill out what you can and we can always help get the rest filled out with you at your first appointment.

What happens after I submit my pre-enrollment form?

Once we get closer to opening, we will call people in order of submission to get their initial visit scheduled. Before that visit, we will email you with any forms that to be signed before you come into the office (HIPAA, records release, etc).

What if I'm technologically challenged?

No worries. We will walk you through it. We can fill out the forms together at the office.

When will my membership officially start?

We will gather your billing information from you at your first appointment and after we go through your health history together, your membership will start that day.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Feel free to bring any pertinent past medical records. Also, current medication bottles are always helpful. Bring your payment method information (bank information for ACH or credit/debit card) as well as your insurance card. We won't use the insurance at our office, but it's helpful to have it on file if we need to send a referral for you.
